Award winners of Egypt's 9th National Theatre Festival

 The awards for the 9th National Theatre Festival were handed out by Culture Minister Helmy El-Namnam at the closing ceremony held at the Cairo Opera House's Great Hall on Tuesday night.

 

This edition of the festival offered 37 plays, across 14 stages, and from 11 governorates in Egypt.

It also saw an increase in the value of prizes in comparison to previous years, presenting 20 awards which in total amounted to EGP 300,000. 

- Karam Motawea award: First place for best performance

El-Qoroush El-Thalatha (The Threepenny Opera)

- Hassan Abdel Salam award: Second place for best performance

El-Romady (Gray)

- Mahmoud Diab award for theatre text

Sameh Mahran for Inbox

- Nabil Badran award for promising playwright

Ex aequo for:
Ahmed Nabil for El-Khoroug Aan El-Nas (Out of Context)
Sameh Osman Nesaa Shakespeare (Shakespeare's Women)

- Kamal Yassine award for best director

El-Said Mansi for El-Qoroush El-Salassa (The Threepenny Opera)

- Samir El-Adl award for the promising director

Mohamed Fouad for Qawad Al-Asheq Al-Arabaoun (The Forty Rules of Love )

- Omar El-Hariri award for best actor in the main role

Ahmed Osman for El-Fanar (The Lighthouse)

- Mohamed Wafiq award for best actor in the secondary role

Ex aequo for:
Ahmed Maged for El-Khoroug aan El-Nas (Out of Context)
Mohamed Wael El-Qoroush El-Salassa (The Threepenny Opera)

- Mokhles El-Beheiri award for promising actor:

Ahmed Saad Waly for her role in Drama El-Shahateen (The Beggars’ Drama)

- Magda El-Khatib award for best actress in the main role:

Hager Afifi for El-Khoroug Aan El-Nas (Out of Context)

- Malak El-Gamal award for best actress in the secondary role:

Fatma Hassan for El-Qayd (Enchainment)

- Amal El-Zoheiri award for promising actress:

Iman Ghoneim for her role in Gamila (Beauty)

- Salah Abd El-Karim award for best scenography: 

Ahmed Hosni for Onshoudat Ghoul Lusitania (Song of the Lusitanian Bogeyman)

-Abdel Ghani Abou El-Enein award for best costume design: 

Amira Saber for El-Haadid (The Lower Depths)

-Shokri Abdel Wahab award for best light design: 

Bassel Mamdouh for El-Qaa (At the Bottom)

- Zakareya El-Hegawi award for best music: 

Kamelo for Al-Zombie wa Al-Khataya Al-Ashra (Zombie and the Ten Sins)

- Mohamed Khalil award for best choreography: 

Ex aequo for:
Monadel Antar for El-Bassassin (The Watchmen)
Sherine Hegazy for Ya Sem

- El-Sherif Khater award for best theatrical adaptation: 

Tarek El-Deweri and Nashwa Moharam for Al-Zombie wa Al-Khataya Al-Ashra (Zombie and the Ten Sins)

- El-Noubi award for best artwork of the promotional material:

Amr Hosni for Al Zombie Wa Al Khataya Al Ashra (Zombie and the Ten Sins)

- Naguib Sourour award for best poetry: 

Ahmad Atta for Beir El-Saqaya (The Watering Well)

- Special jury award:
