As for the causes behind such decision, Damati said that there were orders from the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) to the Egyptian Company exporting gas to Israel. SCAF is trying to look better before the Egyptians after many setbacks like power shortage and Al-Nasr Petroleum fire in Suez, and the other big fire in Tanta, as well as the provokes of Israel like announcing that there are terrorist groups in Sinai that threaten the Israeli security.
However, the decision made many Egyptians happy as it was a demand after the revolution especially that Egypt suffers from power shortage. Al-Damati added that Israel can only talk and they will lose any case in the international courts as they violated the Convention first by not paying the due money for months.
