Dr. Mounir Hanna, Bishop of Episcopal church in Egypt, North Africa and the Horn of Africa, was elected as Chairman of the Council of Episcopal Churches in the current session, which is going to last for three years. Hanna is the first Egyptian to become the president of this council since its inception in 1994.
Bishop Mounir Hanna has participated in "The Egyptian family project" which aims at achieving harmony and peace among the different sects and regions in the Middle East.
It is worth mentioning that members of the Episcopal Church in the southern hemisphere are more than 55 million.
