CAIRO: Former President Mohamed Morsi‘s defense team submitted a request to the prosecution Sunday requesting to visit the ousted president in Borg al-Arab prison 10 days prior to the second session of his trail, said defense team member Ashraf Omran.
Omran said the defense team will hold a press conference after the prosecution issues its decision regarding the visit to discuss how the visit will proceed.
Omran said they may hold another conference after visiting Morsi if they get the prosecution’s approval.
The names included in the visit request are Mohamed Selim al-Awa, Mohamed Touson, Osama al-Helw, Ashraf Omran, and Mohamed el-Damaty.
Mohamed El Damaty, spokesperson for the defense team, told Youm7 on Dec. 29 they will also request a date for a meeting with Morsi so that he may select a lawyer to defend him.
