CAIRO: Head of Cairo University Gaber Nassar said the verdict obligating police to enter campuses, without permission of the university’s president, in case there are demonstrations, reaffirms the police’s responsibility to protect universities.

Nassar explained in statements to Youm7 that no one objects to the police entering campuses without permission in order to protect its facilities.
Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities Ashraf Hatem said in statements to Youm7 that the police should take into account that there is a crisis inside universities.
He added there should be coordination with the president of the university and its administration in order to prevent the occurrence of a new crisis. He said the main goal is to protect students from violence.
