CAIRO: Security is on high alert across all governorates in anticipation of pro-Muslim Brotherhood protests on Wednesday that would coincide with ousted President Mohamed Morsi’s trial.
Head of the Ambulance Facility in Sharqia Sherif Maken told Youm7 on Wednesday that security authorities decided to raise the state of alert in the governorate to prevent potential chaos.
Central security forces were deployed near police stations and important institutions.
Sharqia security directorate intensified their presence in front of Zagazig Prison to prevent any potential acts of violence by Brotherhood supporters.
The National Coalition to Support the Legitimacy called on its supporters in Ismailia to rally at the police station on Wednesday to release detainees. They threatened that they will confront security forces and prevent them from targeting members of the coalition.
Suez has witnessed an increase in military helicopters for the second day near Arbeen Square and near the Suez Canal.
Security sources told Youm7 on Wednesday that the use of helicopters is in line with securing the area ahead of Morsi’s trial and they are being used as a measure of extra precaution.
