Morsi supporters organise fresh rallies across Egypt's governorates

Several governorates and cities across Egypt witnessed rallies of pro-Morsi supporters Wednesday as part of the National Alliance to Support Legitimacy's call for protests marking the 19 March anniversary of the referendum on constitutional amendments in 2011. Earlier Wednesday, a 14-year-old student was killed in clashes between pro-Morsi supporters and security forces in the city of Beni Suef in Upper Egypt. Dozens were injured as security forces moved to forcibly disperse protesters.
 
The clashes erupted when pro-Morsi students moved their protest from Beni Suef University campus to the streets surrounding the university.
 
At Mansoura University in Daqhalia governorate, the "Students Against Coup" group and pro-Morsi supporters boycotted lectures and protested on campus demanding the release of detained colleagues.
 
The pro-Morsi students also organised rallies to reject the death sentence given to Ibrahim Azab, a Faculty of Pharmacy student. Azab was sentenced to death in relation to a terrorist cell case in Cairo.
 
The students also carried banners calling for the release of detainee, including slogans "Your prison frees the country," "We have not forgotten," "We are students not terrorists," and "Release the detainees."
 
Security was tight on the university campus in preparation for any escalation from pro-Morsi students.
 
In Damietta governorate, clashes erupted between pro-Morsi supporters and security forces aided by angry residents Wednesday afternoon in New Damietta City.
 
The residents of New Damietta along with security forces dispersed a rally organised by pro-Morsi supporters. According to news reports, residents were provoked by anti-army and anti-police chants.
 
Security forces dispersed the rally using tear gas.
 
In Gharbia governorate, the cities of Kafr El-Zayat and Al-Mahalla witnessed human chains Wednesday afternoon organised by pro-Morsi protesters.The protesters held banners in the main roads and side roads of the two cities calling on citizens to join rallies against the army and police.
 
In Beheira governorate, pro-Morsi female students organised rallies inside the Faculty of Agriculture and in Damanhour University, demanding the release of detainees. Pro-Morsi students at the Fayoum University in Fayoum governorate organised a protest demanding the release of detained students and demanding the return of ousted president Mohamed Morsi.
 
In Menoufiya, pro-Morsi supporters organised rallies in the towns El-Shohuda, Tookh and Ashmon Wednesday and were dispersed by angry locals.
 
In Sharqia governorate, pro-Morsi supporters organised protests in several villages and towns. In the town of Hiaa, the hometown of ousted president Morsi, supporters organised a rally holding photos of the ousted president and Rabaa sign, chanting anti-army and anti-police chants.
 
Pro-Morsi supporters also organised a rally in Sharqiya governorate's Zagazig.
