Monks of the Monastery of St. Macarius at Wadi Natrun sent an urgent appeal to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to intervene immediately in order to stop thugs from taking over Coptic antiques and attacking the monastery.
A gang headed by Gebril S. Senousy, has seized about 500 acres around the monastery using machine guns and threatening to burn lands of the monastery.
It’s worth mentioning that the seized land contains Coptic antiquates including monks' housing and ruins dating back to the fourth century.
