Nuns at Novterg Monastery receive Pope Tawadros with flowers, bread and salt

Media Centre of the Coptic Orthodox Church said that Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria, and his accompanying delegation has arrived to the monastery of Novterg in St. Petersburg city, Russia. The nuns of the monastery offered the Pope bouquets of flowers as well as bread and salt according to tradition of this monastery. 
 
It is noteworthy that the city of Saint Petersburg is the second largest city in Russia, politically incorporated as a federal subject (a federal city). It is located on the Neva River at the head of the Gulf of Finland on the Baltic Sea. In 1914 the name of the city was changed from Saint Petersburg to Petrograd, in 1924 to Leningrad, and in 1991, back to Saint Petersburg.
