Security Chief: Over 43,000 Egyptians arrived from Libya since February

One hundred and forty eight Egyptians have recently returned to Egypt from Libya, according to Major General Al-Anany Hammouda, Marsa Matrouh's security chief. There were 106 people who arrived legally, while the remaining 43 crossed the borders surreptitiously.

“The number of Egyptian returnees coming from Libya via the Salloum border crossing has reached 43,760 since February,” he said.

Hammouda also mentioned that he will be facilitating arrival procedures for returning Egyptians, but will nonetheless maintain strict security measures at the crossing.

Egypt had earlier warned against traveling to Libya due to the violent and unstable situation in the country.
