Father Luke Asaad, priest of St. Mary Church in Rashid, called president Abdul Fattah al-Sisi to intervene and save the only church in Rashid from being demolished.
The church that belonged to the Greek Orthodox church was sold against the law to judge Mohammad Mustafa Taranh. The current Patriarch of the Greek Orthodox tried to return the church, but the judge refused after he used his relations to register the church against the law since churches and mosques can’t be sold to individuals according to the Egyptian law.
It’s worth mentioning that the historical church was attacked four times by the judge and his thugs trying to demolish it.
