Government does not endorse “For the Love of Egypt” electoral list: spokesperson

Emad Gad, spokesperson for the “For the Love of Egypt” electoral list, said in an interview with Al-Masry Al-Youm that the government does not endorse or support the list.

Q: How will you compete with the rest of the electoral lists?

A: It will be challenging in the first round against Al-Nour Party in the western part of the Delta because it is the strongest party there. This constituency will probably see a rerun that we will win.

As for Giza and Upper Egypt, I think we will have a rerun against the "Egypt” list.

Q: What are the chances for the Al-Nour Party in Cairo?

A: It will lose against the civil parties.

Q: Do you think the political Islam forces will rally for the Al-Nour Party candidates in Cairo?

A: Not necessarily, for part of the Salafis will boycott the elections and the Muslim Brotherhood will not choose them because they have expressed support for the June 30 Revolution.

Q: Is it true the government is supporting your list?

A: Not at all. Whoever has such a claim should prove it. How does the government support us? With Money? We have businessmen in the list who give enough donations.

And if some claim the government will rig the elections in favor of a certain list, I tell them that rigging is not for the benefit of the government because the regime does not have a political party.

I believe they attack us because they know they cannot compete with us.

Q: How are you financed?

A: By the businessmen and the political parties that have joined our list.

Q: Why does the Al-Nour Party a small chance in Giza and Upper Egypt?

A: I think due to pressure from campaigns against religious parties in these constituencies.

Q: Will the Muslim Brotherhood run in the elections?

A: They want to distort the elections.

Q: What do you think about the Al-Nour Party including Copts in its list?

A: It is a facade that the Al-Nour Party is portraying because the Salafis do not like Copts in reality.
