Egyptian Traditions – Still Away

Well as much as I'm happy to write to you (Egyptians or whomever reads my weekly articles) I'm truly sorry for the absence of updated news of Egypt in my exile abroad yes I'm in exile since ex-president Nasser -a former Muslim Brotherhood member- decided Egypt was an Arab country its main religion is Islam, and with all due respect to all religions COUNTREIS Never had a religion!

Moreover when ½ my family -the Greek side- was still in Egypt I would feel Christmas coming way before the 25th of December -or the 7th of January which ever is right- there was a Greek / Egyptian tradition that children and grown up children will go around in the neighborhood to well known Christian houses and sing about Father Christmas coming and offering presents!

Well as I said I'm in Exile away from my beloved country Egypt; I'm in Manchester UK but I do not feel it is still the same Manchester I saw years ago, at this time of the year streets were decorated with Christmas Decorations, at tree at a neighbor's yard looked like a natural Christmas tree and was decorated like a real Christmas tree you could feel the spirit of Christmas, the witch hunt, and all other
Christmas traditions, well all that now in my neighborhood disappeared, the tree was CUT DOWN and no decorations in that street, you can only see beard men or women in Nikab walking around and guys holding the holly Koran going or coming from lectures in Islamic Religion and I wander is the head of Alazhar in control of those lectures or the lecturers?
Any why my problem is that here in Manchester UK my receiver can not find or catch any Egyptian Satellites or channels  the only one my receiver could find was RIK SAT a Cyprus one which was and remains part of GREECE my other half country or origin may God keep blessing them with Egypt!

Even in Egypt when the channels I like and used to follow at certain times they were broadcasting boring programs like the MaspiroZaman channel that at some times reminded me with my child days so I loved it but another boring -to me- program was the long long broadcasting times with -R.I.P.- Hassanen Heykal at the time of my childhood I would welcome those interviews but as we grow up our understanding develops too and the semi Gods we used to follow get uncovered as human beings!

Resuming when boring broadcasting will make me run away to any more interesting channel, it used to be Rotana (New or Old Movies) but once again at my age nothing is satisfactory actors turn to be a no no not watch his movies that actor or actress without stating name for due respects, so my only refuge become News channels but again repeated news becomes boring specially lies in the news, and I found that RIK SAT that was lost due to continuous change of Satellites -my guess was because of the financial problems Greece faces they could not afford paying the broadcast so the owner of the Satellites were terminating the free broadcasting and either you pay or no more broadcasting- whatever the reason was RIK SAT would announce sufficient time ahead the new frequencies and record them and start looking for the new location but at a point of time in my continues travels I missed the expected change and LOST RIK SAT until my chance while updating some channels I saw RIK SAT and that was it, I saved it and become my new escape from boring Ibrahim Eissa a very respectful Egyptian presenter but very very pessimistic and we do not need more pessimism when we can not find sugar for our tea; so I used to run away to RIK  SAT and little by little it become my all time channel and leave it at certain times to follow a soap or a favorite program!

So in my exile in UK Rik made me feel like I'm back home, and I got back the lost Christmas feeling when they did broadcast the per-Christmas celebrations in Vienna how wonderful to see the world celebrating around you even if celebrations are pure local traditions has nothing to do with the religious celebrations! As an example of local Traditions in USA is Black Friday or the witch hunt in certain European countries, and the Halloween and many more traditions for the season!

Well I guess I did describe the feelings the celebration and pinpointed serous future problems with Religion issues I hope the Islamic leaders are aware of them!
So may God keep blessing Egypt and Egyptians peach of the Lord be with you ALL!
