Justice promised for Egyptian activist

 CAIRO- Gamal Mubarak, a senior official in the ruling National Democratic Party, has said that the party is keen to see justice "run its course" in the case of an activist whose family says has been beaten to death by two plainclothes policemen.

 

"The party inists that any wrongdoer should be punished in line with justice, transparency and rule of the law, Gamal, President Mubarak's younger son, added on Monday.

   The death of 28-year-old Khaled Saeed, a blogger allegedly by the two policemen, has angered human rights groups and triggered protests in Egypt. On Saturday, Egypt's Chief Prosecutor orderred the two suspected policemen stand trial on charges of "illegally arresting and meteing out harsh treatment" to Saeed.
