Facing Barcelona and Argentinean star Lionel Messi in the UEFA Champions League semifinal is something special for Liverpools star winger Mohamed Salah.
"It is something very, very huge to play against Barcelona in Champions League," the Egyptian international told Bleacher Report.
Liverpool, who lost last years Champions League final to Real Madrid, will be hosted by Barca in the first leg of the prestigious tournament semis on Wednesday.
"We are the only team now in the semis from last seasons teams, so this is something big for us, for the players and the team, so that shows how much we are improving," Salah added.
When asked about his confrontation with Barcelonas Argentinean star Lionel Messi, Salah said: "Thats great. Most people call him the best player ever. Facing him in the semis is something very huge, very exciting for me and for the team also. It is something great."
The 26-year-old Salah has been a phenomenon in the English Premier League since joining Liverpool in the summer of 2017.
He won the Premier League top scorer and best player awards last season and came third in the FIFA Best Player Award for 2018.
The Egyptian King, as he is nicknamed by the media, is also an inspiration in Liverpools campaign to win their first Premier League title since 1990.
"The expectations from the people are very, very high, so basically you score 40 something last season, now they want you to score 60 and next season 90 and it doesnt work like that," the former Chelsea and Roma player, who is currently the leagues top scorer with 21 goals, said about the expectations on his performance this season.
"But if I score 30 goals and my team ranks third in the table or fourth, are you going to be happy? No," he added.
Liverpool currently lie second on the Premier League table with 91 points, just one point behind leaders and title holders Manchester City.
"I think that for the city and the club they prefer the Premier League more. I prefer both to be honest, but if you have to decide between one of them, I have to sacrifice the Champions League for the Premier League for the sake of the city and the club," he concluded.
