Zamalek ready to claim Champions League title under any circumstance: Clubs football supervisor

Zamalek’s football supervisor Amir Mortada Mansour has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to claim the CAF Champions League title under any circumstance.

The Cairo giants will face a vital African Champions League semi-final clash against Raja Casablanca of Morocco in September.

"Zamalek are ready to win the Champions League title. We don   t pay attention to the pitch advantage or the competition   s system, all that doesn   t cause a problem for the team," Mansour was quoted as saying on the club   s official website on Monday.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced last week that the Champions League semi-final will return to its two-leg format instead of the one-leg format recently approved by the CAF.

"We are ready to win the title under any circumstance, as our main target is to claim the trophy under any format," he added.

"The Confederation of the African Football are the only ones responsible for the tournament   s format, while Zamalek is ready for any circumstance, since all we work towards is winning the title," the Zamalek football supervisor said.

All continental sports activities have been suspended since March due to the coronavirus pandemic, including the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup, which were originally scheduled to be played on 1 May.

Prior to the CAF competitions’ postponement, Egypt’s big names Ahly and Zamalek had been set to play the Champions League semi-finals against Moroccan sides Wydad de Casablanca and Raja de Casablanca respectively.
