Assiut: Displacement of three Christian families after their houses were robbed

Yousif Zakaria, from Nag Rozik village, Assiut, told Copts United that his family has suffered forced displacement from their village, as well as the families of his brothers Essam Zakaria and Makram Zakaria.

He said that the story has started after a fight between a Christian girl of his family and a Muslim girl in the village after-which they were reconciled, but her family has attacked our house later claiming that some Christian man called Mina has phoned them and insulted them.

Three days later, we were attacked by 8 masked men who broke into our house to steal it and damage the household, he added.

Zakaria said: I went to the police station to report the police, but surprisingly, they told me they are not going to do anything and advised me to reconcile with them!

Now, we are not able to come back to our homes and my daughter can't go to her college, he added.
