For insulting Islam, court sentences Coptic activist to 3 years

Misdemeanor Court has sentenced Albert Saber , Coptic activist, to 3 years for insulting Islam and promoting extremist ideas and atheism through his Facebook page.

Hamdy Al-Assiouty, one of Aleber's lawyers, told Copts United that Alber should have been released on bail till Court of Appeal ruling is issued, which is expected to be “innocent”. He explained that they have posted 1000 EGP bail, but the court has sent Alber to jail instead of releasing him.
