Brotherhood's Katatni, Erian and Beltagy referred to criminal court
A Cairo prosecutor ordered on Wednesday that Mohamed Saad al-Katatni, head of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party, his deputy Essam al-Erian and senior member Mohamed al-Beltagy be referred to criminal court on charges of inciting the killing of protesters by the group’s Cairo headquarters in July.

Violent confrontations that erupted by the office on June 30 in light of mass demonstrations calling for the ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi left at least 12 people killed.

Other senior members who were also referred to court for the same case on Wednesday include Mahmoud Ezzat, Mahdy Akef, Usama Yassin and Ayman Hodhod.

The defendants are accused of inciting violence, murder, attempted murder, terrorist acts, vandalism among other things.

The Brotherhood's supreme guide, Mohamed Badie, and his deputy Khairat al-Shater, were also referred to criminal court on the same charges on July 30, but a court adjourned their trial to October 29.
