The Egyptian railway will partially resume its services on Tuesday, restarting the lines connecting Cairo to the Nile Delta cities, North-East to Cairo, Transportation Minister Ibrahim al-Demeri said in a cabinet statement.
Demeri added that there will be a gradual return to all train services within the next few days.
The train service were halted across Egypt since mid-August, following the crackdown on two Islamist protest camps that were set in support of ousted President Mohamed Mursi, which left nearly a thousand people dead.
The cabinet statement explained that the decision to suspend lines came to “hold up any acts of rioting or cutting off the railway lines by Mursi supporters.”
