The Greek campus at the American university in Cairo hosted the launch of a joint social media campaign by the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM), under the hashtag #ImAgainstBullying, on Tuesday. The campaign comes under the umbrella of a joint program implemented by UNICEF and funded by the European Union, titled Expanding Access to Education and Protection of at Risk Children.

An Egyptian archaeological mission operating around Luxor’s Karnak temple discovered on Sunday architectural remains of the Osiris Ptah Nab Ankh’s compartment. Chief of the Egyptian monuments Sector in the Ministry of Antiquities Ayman Ashmawy said that the compartment was established inside the Karnak temple in the south of the tenth edifice of the god Amun’s temple.

Egypt’s Sixth Annual Drum and Heritage Arts Festival will take place between 20 and 27 April, announced Intisar Abdel-Fattah, founder and president of the festival during a media conference on Tuesday in Cairo Opera House. Culture Minister Enas Abdel Dayem left for Germany on Tuesday to receive a music award that went to Cairo Steps, an international music ensemble consisting of Egyptian and German musicians. Cairo Steps merges and combines traditional Egyptian and oriental grooves with modern jazz improvisation, classical music and contemporary sounds.

The Egyptian-German excavation mission at Matariya, Heliopolis, uncovered roughly 4,500 fragments of King Psamtek I s quartzite colossus, parts of which were first discovered last year at the nearby Souq Al-Khamis archaeological site. Ayman Ashmawy, Head of the Ancient Egyptian antiquities department at the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities, said that these fragments, along with the previously discovered 6,400 pieces, allow researchers to calculate the original size and shape of the colossus, which was deliberately destroyed.

The renowned Egyptian author Ahmed Khaled Tawfik died on Monday at 55 after suffering from a long-term illness. He leaves behind a valuable heritage that is engraved in the hearts of many Egyptians. Tawfik, initially a medical doctor, is considered to be one of the most influential writers who shaped the character of Egypt’s youth in the early 1990s. His writing style appealed to both Egyptian and Arabic-speaking audiences.

Australian academics could help unlock mysteries around ancient Egypt after discovering that a 2,500-year old coffin might contain the remains of a prestigious mummy. The University of Sydney acquired the coffin 150 years ago and a series of academics incorrectly classified it as empty.
