Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark See, inaugurated on Sunday a 44-storey skyscraper in the heart of Melbourne developed by the Coptic Orthodox Church in Australia. The new skyscraper, was called Eporo Tower, and includes a large church, a bookstore, a dining hall, conference rooms, facilities for a theological college, and residential apartments. During the inauguration, Pope Tawadros II praised the efforts of the Coptic community in Australia and expressed great admiration for the new tower.

Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark See, laid the foundation stone of the Elderly House in Melbourne. The Elderly House belongs to the diocese of Melboune and will be named after the late priest Father Mina Rezkalla. The Popes visit to the Melbourne Diocese began last Tuesday as part of his current pastoral care visit to Australia.

Copts of Melbourne gathered in the city to receive Pope Tawadros upon his arrival to the Diocese of Melbourne. Pope was received in the airport by Abba Suriel, bishop of Melbourne. It is decided that Pope will meet with the people in the first meeting with the Coptic congregation of Melbourne since his inauguration in November 2012.

Hilmi Al-Noman, Minister of Culture, opened the second book fair, held by the Egyptian General Book Organization under the chairmanship at the Cathedral of St. Mark in Abbassia. Bishop Jeremiah, head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, honored the minister by giving him the shield of the Coptic Cultural Center.

During his pastoral care visit to Australia, Pope Tawadros II visited the monastery of St Shenouda in Sydney. Pope was received by Abba Daniel, head of the monastery and the monks. Pope has arrived in Australia after his visit to Japan where he inaugurated the first Coptic Church in the country.

Abba Abram, Bishop of Fayyoum, issued a statement to reveal the reason for his long retreat in the monastery saying that he longs to staying at the monastery as a monk and dedicate his time for prayers and worship. He explained that he wants to spend his time in this spiritual retreat till the end of his life and there is no other reason for his demand.

Pope Tawadros II returned to Cairo on Friday after attending the funeral of Metropolitan of Milan in Italy. The Coptic Orthodox Metropolitan of Milan, Anba Kyrillos, passed away on Monday 14 August, at age 65. He died peacefully in his sleep; he was late getting up in the morning, which worried those in the house. They finally decided to go wake him up, but found he had died in his sleep.

Pope Tawadors II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark See, mourned the Egyptian politician Mohammed Refaat El-Saeed, former chairperson of the National Progressive Unionist Party (Tagammu), who has passed away on Thursday at the age of 84 at his home in Cairo. Coptic church said in a statement that El-Saeed has played a prominent role in the political life in Egypt and has always supported equality and unity of the homeland.
