His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark See, paid a visit to the shrine of the Metropolitan Bishoy of Damietta and Kafr El-Sheikh and former secretary of the Holy Synod. Coptic churches and monasteries in Egypt celebrated the holy feast of the Cross called in other churches “The Exaltation of the Holy Cross”. The Cross of Jesus Christ was discovered in 326 by Saint Helena, the mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great, during a pilgrimage she made to Jerusalem. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre was then built at the site of the discovery, by order of Helena and Constantine. The Coptic Orthodox Church is building the largest Coptic library in the world at the papal headquarters in the monastery of St. Bishoy on an area of one acre and will collect the largest number of rare Coptic books and manuscripts and will be opened in November.

During his meeting with the congregation of the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Athanasius in New Jersey, His Holiness Pope Tawdros II invited the Egyptians abroad to invest in Egypt. He added that the church is building schools and hospitals and all patriot Egyptians should follow that lead to help their home country.

Copts of Damshaw Hashim village had to hold another funeral in the streets as their church has been shut down by the police. The funeral was held under extra security measures.
