The Supreme Council of antiquities declared the completion of development works for the Philae temples area in Aswan. His Holiness Pope Tawadros II met today with a group of bishops to discuss some of the ideas put forward regarding the cooperation between Coptic media and how they can be coordinated in the form of a council or body to work together. Coptic Church celebrated on Friday the departure anniversary of Archdeacon Habib Girgis who was recognized as saint in the church. Archdeacon Habib Girgis was born in 1876 and died in 21 August 1951. He was a modern-day dean of the Catechetical School of Alexandria. He was the very first student for the modern-day Theological School, and was thus appointed to succeed his predecessor, Youssef Bey Mankarious, in the year 1918, as the second dean of the renewed center of theology.

A high-ranking delegation from the Russian embassy visited the Coptic Studies Institute at St. Mark s Cathedral in Abbasia. The visitors were received by Dr. Ishaq Ibrahim Ajban, Dean of the Institute, where the members of the delegation inspected the new advanced library, the acoustics studio in the Coptic melodies and music department, the meeting room and conference room, the computer center, and a number of other projects.

Father Poulos Halim, spokesman for the Coptic Orthodox Church, said that monk Raphael Al-Muharraqi died today at the age of 65 and his funeral was held at the monastery of St. Mary Al-Muharraq. The monk was ordained on August 25, 1989, and served in several places including the New Valley. His Holiness Pope Tawadros II offered sincere condolences to Bishop Begoul, head of the Monastery of the Virgin Al-Muharraq and to the monks.
