"People worship the weakness in Jesus Christ; however, they did not realize He was strong in every sense of power. Jesus was neither coward nor complainer, but so strong and even a rebel in many situations” said poet Gobran K. Gobran. Superficial understanding of sayings of Jesus Christ makes people think he encourages submission and servility, which is entirely untrue.
Regardless of the identity or religion of a terrorist, he is but a devil in human body. Jesus Christ said about the devil that “He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him”. No matter where the terroristic attack happens, it’s but an evil work. Furthermore, I think that those who rejoice for such attack participate somehow with the terrorist. As both are full of hatred and evil. Moreover, I think that those who rejoice for such attack are even worse than that terrorist as they are so cowards.
Some people refuse to call the events of Jan. 25, 2011 as a revolution. I think they have the rights to do so, as revolutions usually aim to topple a bad regime and solve many problems. In Egypt, the “revolution” hasn't solved any problems and brought a worse regime. Giving its mixed standards, we can call it a “reversed revolution”.=
As the world celebrates Mother's day this month, Egypt presents different form of appreciation for women by taking away their rights. Six decades ago, women were much more appreciated in the Egyptian society, and it was big shame on men to hit women even if she hit him first.
Each religion has its own beliefs that we can't see or touch as they are really private, but we do touch the practices of the believers of that religion, as such practices determine how people deal with each other. Such practices are of two kinds: Either good enough to help the community or bad enough to destroy it. Egypt has both kinds of religious practices.
After Hamada Saber was assaulted and stripped nude in front of the Presidential Palace by brutal security forces who kept beating him up, all Egyptians felt assaulted, and Egypt was totally insulted.
Quota is a fixed share that must be received, and the Coptic quota is a fixed share for the Coptic Christians in Egypt given during the elections to ensure a pretty fair representative for them in the parliament. Countries that enjoy democracy don't need such exceptional procedures
The Coptic church works as an organization within Egypt that has to deal with the Egyptian state
Mubarak’s regime has claimed that Christians of Egypt are using violence against their enemies, which is a big lie of the former regime that lasted till now.
Many times did we, the Coptic Christians, face the same situation over and over again, while we only do the same actions and reactions to reap the same results!
Civil rights of Coptic Christians shouldn't be linked to their beliefs which is their own business.
People make and choose their rulers, thus, they deserve them. This applies whether such ruler was elected or came by force. Such people has given him the chance to rule them.
Recently, the General Guide of MB has given a speech in which he mentioned a conversation between him and the late Pope Shenouda III. The General Guide asked the Pope: Do you know who ordered us to take care of the Copts? The pope asked: Who? The General Guide said: The Prophet Mohammed himself!
Two decades ago, Facebook and Twitter were not invited yet. Internet and e-mail wasn’t there as well as Youtube. However, jokes were transferred among people in a different way: In the past we used to carry a piece of newspaper or magazine with jokes or cartoon and show it to our friends to read and laugh.
After a long and fierce debate about the eligibility of Sheik Hazem Abu Ismail to run for the presidency, the competent committee decided finally to delete his name from the records of candidates after making sure his mother has gotten the U.S. citizenship. The decision of the Committee is not a subject to appeal and thus “it’s over”.
I understand very well why some people are thinking about the division of Egypt, though I don’t agree with them. After many terroristic attacks on Copts which have increased alarmingly during the previous decades, Many Copts have lost their hope in coexistence with Muslims in Egypt. They now believe that the only solution is separation. But, is it really the solution for the Coptic problem in Egypt?
When youth protests started in January 25th, 2011, it was aiming at improving the conditions of the Egyptians with its slogan Bread... Freedom Social Justice Human Dignity. Soon, the protestors discovered that it was impossible to achieve such demands in the presence of the former corrupted regime. So, they demanded the change of the system and the main slogan became "Everyone wants to overthrow the regime. Sit-ins succeeded in overthrowing President Mubarak in February 11th, 2012, passing the authority to the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, which wasn’t better than its predecessor, and then voices started calling for the Supreme Council to hand the power over. With the slogan, "Down ... Down... Military rule"
