Egypt's Coptic Pope Tawadros II has denied that Christians migrating from Egypt has become a trend, adding that there have only been individual cases.
The pope told national television on Saturday that “the decision of some Coptic families to migrate abroad may be related to many things the last of which is fear over the situation in Egypt.”
He pointed out, however, that Christians, like Muslims, are concerned with recent events in Egypt.
Regarding UN reports on violations against Coptic Christians in Egypt, he said that they harm Egypt’s image abroad, which is something he cannot accept as an Egyptian before a Copt.
He urged the media to try hard to reassure the people.
