Talk of the Metro

Being one of the Egyptians that likes to take the Metro most days, I find that every day the people in the Metro talk about nothing except Morsi and if he should step down or not. Most people are very angry with Morsi, and they mention why. Some of them say that the electricity cuts every day; others say that the water cuts every day too.

Water and electricity is not the only thing people talk about. They also talk about the Ethiopian Dam and how it will affect the future of Egypt. They are wondering if the situation is like this now after one year of Morsi, how will it be after 2 or 3 years?

There is no doubt that Morsi divided the nation between some for and some against, but no one can deny, also, that most Egyptians became frustrated with the nation and are searching for a solution for all problems they have.

The problem is that the nation is not only divided between those who support Morsi and those who don’t, but also a lot of time they fight with each other, which is not a good indication of what could happen on the 30th of June. All people are so worried about what could happen on the 30th of June. This worry is coming from the threats of the Muslim Brotherhood and all their supporters.

Morsi succeeded in only one thing, which is dividing the society into two groups. I believe that this is the most dangerous thing that could face any community. For there to be a divide between groups in the time that there needs to be a united front against all threats is a grave risk.

During one year, Morsi failed completely to unify the political groups or to even at least sit with them and see what they want. Morsi doesn’t care about any political group except his Muslim Brotherhood. Morsi just cares about his Islamic current, he is only searching to satisfy them and the rest of the nation is not important.

I believe that the demonstration on the 30th of June is a big chance for the opposition to prove that it has supporters that represent a huge number of the population. Without that, the Islamic current will never respond to the opposition. Morsi always believes that the opposition is very weak and cannot agree on something, so if we couldn’t seize this opportunity, we will lose not just for the moment but also in the long run.
