Many speculations are heard about the intense movements of Anne Patterson, the U.S. Ambassador in Egypt, before the revolution of June 30. She met with many political figures including Khairat Al-Shater, whose role is yet not very clear in the presidency (that owe blind obedience to the Guidance Office of the Muslim Brotherhood).
To understand her movements, we should go back to the first days of the revolution of January 25. At that time, the Coptic Christians used to think that America supports them to gain their full citizenship in Egypt. They were very emotional and used to appreciate the former U.S. Ambassador, Margaret Scobey, very much, which was clear upon attending any religious celebration.
Such emotional appreciation by the Copts to the American administration came in spite of supporting the Muslim Brotherhood, who have permanently discriminated and incited against the Copts. Both parties, the Copts inside and outside Egypt, had the same vision and hope for getting the American support despite knowing about these facts very well.
Therefore, I don't understand why they dreamed about getting the American support to the Coptic issue! They should have learned the lesson from the Christians in Iraq who were tortured to death couple of meters away from the American bases in Baghdad with no real action taken by the Americans!
In fact, America never cares for weak people. It only cares for the safety of Israel and its own interests. So, it has chosen the Islamists to achieve its goals in Egypt.
Dear Copts, you won't get anything if you don't have a plan. Now is the time to have your own effect in the Egyptian political platform. You cannot beg for supporting your cause forever as the world doesn't respect or recognize the weak anymore. Now is the time to learn the game and have some sort of real effect.
