Rev. Refat Fathi, Secretary General of the Evangelist Synod of the Nile, said that the first article of the Constitutional Declaration that reads: "the principles of Islamic Sharia ... are the main source of legislation" does not necessarily lead Egypt to a religious state.
He added that this article came to assure the Islamists in Egypt at this critical moment we have in Egypt.
This article may be removed later in the permanent constitution, he added.
