Ismailia prosecutors on Thursday ordered the detention of Baligh Hamdy, secretary of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) branch in al-Tal al-Kabir, Ismailia, for 15 days pending investigation into clashes that took place in front of the governorate headquarters on 5 July 2012. The violence left three dead and 28 injured as thousands of President Mohamed Morsy’s supporters tried to storm building.
He is charged with inciting murder and violence, assaulting police and military personnel, disturbing public security, and shooting at citizens with an unlicensed firearm.
