PM to AU represntatives: Egypt committed to roadmap

Egypt's interim Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi said on Monday that his government is committed to the implementation of the army's "roadmap", pointing out that the the formation of a constitutional panel will be followed by parliamentary and presidential elections.

During a meeting with the African Union delegation, Beblawi stressed that the judicial system will have the final say regarding those who were involved in acts of violence and incitement, reported the state-owned news agency.

He added that dialogue is open to all parties that adhere to the basic principles of democracy.

On his side, Head of the Delegation, Alpha Oumar Konare, said that democratic societies are based on renouncing violence completely, pointing that the political forces resort to violence lose all credibility and lessen the chances to constructive dialogue.

Konare added that the African Union supports the government's efforts in working on the roadmap within the framework of a comprehensive political process.

He emphasised that the internal affairs of Egypt are to be decided by the Egyptian people alone.
