Fifteen suspected jihadis were killed and 20 others injured during an army raid on supposed criminal hotspots in North Sinai, state media reported.
The raid also resulted in the arrest of three jihadi elements.
Security forces are reportedly still combing the area.
Second Field Army troops meanwhile arrested eight other terrorist elements, on charges of attacking army and police checkpoints in Sheikh Zuwayed.
Commander of the Second Field Army Ahmed Wasafy ordered an attack on suspected criminal hideouts in Toma and Moqataa, both areas of Sheikh Zuwayed.
A military source said military forces coordinated with the Interior Ministry in its two strikes early Tuesday morning.
Four Apache helicopter carried out the attack, hitting a vehicle that was reportedly carrying a number of militants.
The number of terrorists killed in the attack have not been listed yet by the army.
