A spokesperson for the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party in Ismailiya has been arrested, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reports.
Khaled Lotfy was arrested on Wednesday at his workplace in the city of Fayed in Ismailiya governorate. He will be questioned about the burning of a court building in Ismailiya city by supporters of former president Mohamed Morsi on 14 August.
Lotfy will be held for 15 days while investigations take place.
The arrest is part of a government crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood and its allies. Hundreds of senior leaders and members have been arrested since former president Mohammed Morsi – a leading member of the Islamist group – was ousted by the army on 3 July amid nationwide protests against his rule.
