This is not my call this is a petition from a trust worthy person sent to me I decided to follow the link and dedicate today's article to explain it to whom might understand and put the dots on the i's!
First let me excuse the people who in a desperate moment in life under the stress of violence just for being a Christian suffer from all kinds in injustice; at a point in time I thought I can not survive in such a climate and took my family and immigrated! I was young, inexperienced and human subject to the wrong decisions! I forgot that we are all protected not just by our guardian angles but by almighty God who will never let go of his subjects! Even those who died or their belongings were burnt stolen and scattered for sure there is a just cause for it we might not know it now or never find out but for sure there is a reason!
I was too young when Ex-President R.I.P. Nasser was in charge and I can not recall any sectarian violence open his time but I recall many of them upon Ex-President R.I.P. Sadat, I even recall his failed attempt to appoint a new pope when he clashed with R.I.P. Pope Shenouda III the pope inspired by the Holly Spirit, took asylum in a monastery in the desert not seeing or meeting any one in a solitude to pray to God! Soon Ex- President R.I.P. Sadat realised his mistake and backed up and forgot about his attempt to employ a Pope on demand! At this point of time and due to additional personal reasons I had made my decision to immigrate from Egypt!
The International Community
This community is not the common people you me and others meet! They are hi profile people representing different countries, you can say to some extend ambassadors of their countries in this aspect and obviously they have to protect the interests of their countries above any other reason!
These Humanitarians who keep an open eye of how human beings are treated are powerless they can recommend and advise, they at best shut can take matters to the United Nations but no more powers but let us take a quick look at the UN resolutions over time in the recent Arab States history!
The United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine was a plan for the future government of Palestine. The Plan was described as a Plan of Partition with Economic Union which, after the termination of the British Mandate, would lead to the creation of independent Arab and Jewish States and the Special International Regime for the City of Jerusalem. On 29 November 1947, the General Assembly adopted a resolution recommending the adoption and implementation of the Plan as Resolution !
Part I of the Plan contained provisions dealing with the Termination of the Mandate, Partition and Independence. The Mandate would be terminated as soon as possible and the United Kingdom would withdraw from Palestine no later than the previously announced date of 1 August 1948. The new states would come into existence two months after the withdrawal, but no later than 1 October 1948. The Plan sought to address the conflicting objectives and claims of two competing movements: Arab nationalism and Jewish nationalism, known as Zionism. Part II of the Plan included a detailed description of the proposed boundaries for each state.[3] The Plan also called for Economic Union between the proposed states, and for the protection of religious and minority rights.
The Plan was accepted by the Jewish Agency on behalf of the Jewish community, but rejected by Arab governments.
Immediately after adoption of the Resolution by the General Assembly, the Civil War broke out. The partition plan was not implemented
A quick look shows almost 1860 resolutions up to January 2009 and still problem UNSOLVED and more important the reason UN was created was to make from the WWII the last ever WAR, it never worked!
Another recently divided country used to be part of Egypt upon British occupation of Egypt is Sudan that was divided as shown in the picture!
In 2005, Africa's longest running civil war came to an end, but 22 years of violence have ripped Sudan apart with 2 million people killed and another 4 million displaced.
The people of Sudan have a long history extending from antiquity that is intertwined with the history of Egypt. Sudan suffered seventeen years of civil war during the First Sudanese Civil War (1955–1972) followed by the Second Sudanese Civil War between central government of Northern Sudan and the SPLA/M of Southern Sudan. This led to the Second Sudanese Civil War in 1983. Because of continuing political and military struggles, Sudan was seized in a bloodless coup d’etat by colonel Omar al-Bashir in 1989, who thereafter proclaimed himself President of Sudan. The civil war ended with the signing of a Comprehensive Peace Agreement which granted autonomy to what was then the southern region of the country. Following a referendum held in January 2011, South Sudan seceded on 9 July 2011 with the consent of Sudan.
A member of the United Nations, Sudan also maintains membership with the African Union, the Arab League, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as serving as an observer in the World Trade Organization. Its capital is Khartoum, the political, cultural and commercial centre of the nation. Officially a federal presidential representative democratic republic, the politics of Sudan are widely considered by the international community to take place within an authoritarian system because of the control of the National Congress Party (NCP) of the judiciary, executive and legislative branches of government. However, did this split or division of Sudan end violence or fights?
It is almost two years since South Sudan split from Sudan to become the world's newest country.
Sudan's president Omar al-Bashir has announced an amnesty for all political prisoners held in Sudan and has released a number of them accused of links with southern rebels. But who is Omar al-Bashir? He is a convicted criminal that committed crimes against humanity! The Sudanese President, subject to arrest warrants for genocide and crimes against humanity, must be transferred to the International Criminal Court! The United States condemned the crackdown as "brutal" and said excessive force has been used. However, this criminal was granted presidency of the new North Sudan state and no one took any action to seize someone who was sentenced to prison for committing crimes against humanity!
The above are just 2 simple examples on how International community deals with internal problems affecting human beings this is not only for Arab countries let us take a brief quick view on other non Arab Problems let us focus on Cyprus!
Cyprus is not any more part of Greece!
In 1960, a partnership state between Turkish and Greek Cypriots was set up in accordance with the international agreements signed by the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot sides, as well as the Turkish, Greek and British governments. However, in 1963, only three years later, the Turkish Cypriots were ousted by force from all organs of the new Republic by their Greek Cypriot partners in clear breach of the founding agreements and the Constitution. The claim put forth thereafter by the Greek Cypriots to represent the “Republic of Cyprus” has been illegal, and has not been recognised by Turkey. The 1974 attempt by Greece to annex the Island, through a coup attempt, was resisted by Turkey in accordance with the 1960 Treaty of Guarantee. Consequently, Turkish Cypriots set up their own Republic, while continuing the search for reconciliation.
Cyprus is the home of two nations and there exist two democratically organised states in the island. Turkish side always supported the efforts carried out under the good offices mission of the United Nations Secretary-General towards finding a just and viable settlement to the Cyprus issue. However, the Greek Cypriot side rejected the 1985-86 Draft Framework Agreements, the UN sponsored Set of Ideas of 1992, the package of Confidence Building Measures of 1994 and more recently the Comprehensive Settlement of the Cyprus Problem (Annan Plan) in April 2004.
Two parties are now trying to reach a negotiated settlement in the island.
Bilateral relations, Cyprus’ regional role and its participation in the fight against terrorism, as well as the Cyprus issue and energy matters were the issues under discussion in a meeting between Cyprus’ Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides and US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns.
The meeting took place in the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, on Tuesday.
It is not the purpose of this article to focus on Cyprus / Turkish problem neither its relation to Terrorism but to highlight and focus on 2 issues first UN ability to solve violence related problems second that violence is closely related to terrorism that is spreading like fire on hay!
In Conclusion
Petitions about Genocide of Middle East Christians and Other Religious Minorities are worthless as long as International community that stood so close to Egyptian 30th.June revolution focussing on whether it was a revolution or coup d’etat and did nothing about Omar al-Beshir coup d'etat or splitting of Sudan, neither his previous crimes that continue up to this very moment as I write this a growing dismay and further uprising against him!
Once International double standards are unified, or once USA that fights terrorism in Mall stops supporting them in Syria or supplying them with weapons I might reconsider my view for petitions like that noting that I always supported and signed petitions for Animal rights, Child Abuse, Women discrimination and Violent rapes and many more petitions I always supported but this type of petitions that double standards might look at as an excuse to Invade Syria like they did with Libya and Iraq without stopping violence and terrorism I will never support!
Ex-Pope -R.I.P.- Shenouda III once said :- If Copts have to die for Egypt to survive let them die!
Note: Copts here was used as Christian Egyptians! Note that Copts means Egyptians but the common use of this word specially by illiterates is to refer to Christians Egyptians!
I say if we have to die for Egypt to remain one piece one land one nation I willingly die for Egypt to remain Blessed by God for ever Amen!
