Egypt has notified the Interpol over about 165 allegedly "stolen" Egyptian antiquities that are on auction at London's privately-owned Bonhams.
Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, Egypt’s minister of antiquities, said that Egypt has complained to the company, demanding Bonhams to put on hold the Egyptian artifacts auction until they make sure the artifacts are stolen or not.
He added that such artifacts are likely to be either stolen or smuggled which is criminalized by the Egyptian law as well as UNESCO conventions that prohibit the illegal trafficking of cultural property.
