An Egyptian prosecutor banned journalists on Monday from reporting on a legal complaint filed by former presidential candidate Ahmed Shafiq where he accused the elections of being forged, a judicial source said.
The source told Aswat Masriya that the prosecutor had summoned high ranking individuals to listen to their testimonies on the violations Shafiq claims happened in last year's elections.
Shafiq and his attorney argue that the results of the elections, which brought the Muslim Brotherhood's Mohamed Mursi to power, were manipulated.
Shafiq, who came in second place, fled the country after his defeat while Mursi was ousted by the army this July, exactly a year after he was announced president.
