Min. of Supply: Brotherhood control gas cylinders distribution in Upper Egypt

CAIRO: Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Mohamed Abu Shady said there was a shortage in the supply of gas cylinders last Friday.

The necessary number of gas cylinders did not reach the factories because of security circumstances and of blocked roads because of the incidents throughout Egypt, such as Muslim Brotherhood demonstrations.

The problem is those who abuse the instability in Egypt and aim to “terrorize” Egypt intellectually, Abu Shady said in an interview on Dream2 channel. He said the Brotherhood is still in control of the distribution process in southern districts and governorates of Egypt. The ministry is working on controlling the situation by providing home delivery services to ensure they are not bought in stock by black market sellers.

He said he will take strict measures toward warehouses that violate the law and encourage the back market. Punishment will be closing the violating warehouses and giving away their shares to the nearest warehouse, since the ministry does not to deprive citizens from their right in subsides.

“There is no shortage of gas cylinders in Egypt and we do not want to delude ourselves by rumor,” Abu Shady said.
