CAIRO: The Shura Council “represented corruption” and did not have a “clear or assistive role,” said Ahmed Khairy, Assistant Rapporteur of the 50-member committee said on Saturday in an interview with Al-Hayat.
Khairy said that he would accept the abolition of the council, and said “we want to establish a special council under any name with clear regulatory and legislative terms of reference.”
“We want representation for all categories of people with new criteria to balance the country’s institutions”, he said in the interview, and added that Egypt must work to achieve workers’ rights according to the international laws.
