A Cairo court extended on Sunday the detention period of deposed Islamist President Mohamed Mursi for 30 days, judicial sources said.
Mursi, ousted by the military on July 3 following mass protests against his rule, is arrested on charges of escaping prison during the January uprising in 2013.
The deposed president faces a trial for collaborating with Palestinian Islamist group Hamas to plan his escape from Wadi Al-Natroun prison during the uprising that toppled autocratic President Hosni Mubarak.
He is also accused of inciting violence during the Ittihadya presidential palace violence, which happened in December and left at least 10 people killed. The clashes followed a presidential decree that amplified Mursi's authority.
Mursi's trial was adjourned to January 8 after he said that he was the legitimate president of Egypt and that he did not recognise the authorities questioning him.
He is currently held at Borg al-Arab Prison in the outskirts of the Mediterranean city of Alexandria.
