CAIRO: Sir Magdi Yacoub Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and 50-member committee member said it is important to allocate quotas for Women, Copts and Youth in the new constitution to assure the international community that Egypt does not discriminate between people, in an interview on al-Hayat satellite channel on Saturday.
Yacoub said the 50 percent quota for laborers and farmers is not in their favor, and it would be best to decrease their quota 20 percent temporarily since it cannot be abolished at once.
Yacoub added that the budget percentage allocated to health must progressively increase, noting that the priority in the constitution now is to counter poverty, illiteracy, disease and spur interest in scientific research.
