Many Coptic activists have supported the Church and rejected the Coptic quota, yet demanded positive discrimination to encourage the Copts participate in all aspects of political life in Egypt.
Kamal Zakher, Coptic activist, said that the Coptic quota may bring some fast results, but should affect the Copts badly for long time, and may divide Egypt. However, the identity of the state should be kept civil as some people are trying to convert Egypt into a religious sate.
Journalist Suleiman Shafik said that positive discrimination should help resolving many problems before the Copts. Furthermore, it will empower them to participate actively in all aspects of life in Egypt in order to achieve equal citizenship.
