CAIRO: Head of the 50-members committee Amr Moussa said that the committee members have the right to run in any upcoming elections.
Moussa said the members can run for either parliamentary or presidential elections, adding that they also have the rights to take up any executive position in the state.
Moussa added, during a press conference at Ithadeya Presidential Palace on Tuesday, that the committee members’ rights cannot be forfeited by adding an article in the constitution banning their right to run in elections.
Previously, there were proposals calling for the prevention of the committee members from running in any upcoming elections, or taking up any executive positions in the state, for a specific period after the adoption of the constitution, in order to avoid any conflicts of interest. However, the committee did not approve this proposal.
