FAYOUM, Egypt: Dozens of Muslim Brotherhood students in Fayoum University formed Tuesday a human chain in front of the faculty of science inside the campus and another one at the entrance to the Faculty of Archaeology, carrying banners condemning last week’s court ruling sentencing 14 young girls in Alexandria to 11 years in prison.
The students condemned the entry of police forces into the campus last Wednesday to prevent attempts by some MB students to break into the administrative building during a meeting of the University Council to demand the release of their colleagues who were arrested in past events.
An official source in the university said the detained students were arrested during events which occurred outside the campus, adding that no student was arrested on campus. He stressed classes were continuing at all faculties as usual.
