Gamaa Islamyya, violence, Muslim Brotherhood, Fiqhi revisions

CAIRO: Founder of Gamaa Islamiyya‘s Tamarod Movement (GITM), Walid el-Borsh said that the Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim’s call for Gamaa Islamiyya to join the road map and participate in the political process is a positive signal from the state.

Borsh said that the movement intends to withdraw confidence from the Gamaa Islamiyya Shura Council formed by Essam Derbala , Assem Abdel Maged, Safwat Abdel-Ghani and Tariq al-Zomor since they retreated from the Fiqhi revisions, which condemn the use of violence.

Borsh said that the previous leadership of the Gamaa Islamiyya committed many mistakes against society, such as allying with the Muslim Brotherhood in exchange for 20 million dollars, launching the Tagarod campaign against the Tamarod Movement, and calling for the Rabaa al-Adaweya and Nahda Square sit-ins.

“These wrong decisions caused the death of more than 15 members belonging to the Gamaa Islamiyya, in addition to 150 members on the arrest lists” said the statement.

The statement called upon Al-Azhar to establish offices in each governorate in order to take care of former political prisoners and their families.
