A car bomb exploded outside a central security forces camp in Egypt's Suez Canal city of Ismailia, killing one and injuring at least 20 conscripts, Al-Ahram's Arabic news website reported.
The explosion was followed by extensive gunfire sounds, according to eye-witnesses who talked to the website.
Al-Ahram reported the conscripts were being transported to hospitals.
In a similar attack, a military intelligence facility in Ismailia was targeted by a car bomb in October injuring six army personnel.
Since the ouster of former Islamist president Mohamed Morsi on 3 July, and a military campaign in Sinai that followed it, security personnel have faced escalating attacks by militants. Several police and army officers have been killed by drive-by shootings in Ismailia since August.
