CAIRO: Gamaa Islamiyya Media office director Mohamed Hassan Hamad said they decided to boycott the upcoming constitutional referendum scheduled for Jan.14 and 15.
Hamad said they decided to boycott during their last meeting to discuss their final stance toward the constitution. They refused to reveal their decision until the National Coalition announced their final stance toward the constitution.
Hamad told Youm7 the majority of the Gamaa Islamiyya members voted on the decision to boycott the referendum and not to participate in any way.
This decision was made after the Gamaa Islamiyya general assembly’s opinion poll in different governorates about their stance on the referendum.
