Cairo University President Gaber Nassar has referred law professor Yasser al-Serafy to an investigative committee on charges of affiliation with the Muslim Brotherhood and raising political issues during lectures that led to altercations between him and students.
“This has nothing to do with his lawsuit against the university presidency elections,” Nassar said. “He was not a candidate in the first place.”
Serafy denied the charges. “I was not informed of the matter,” he said. “Never had I had altercations with the students throughout my 25-year teaching career.”
He also denied affiliation with the Brotherhood.
