PARIS: The Egyptian consulate in Paris summoned French police on Monday to disperse a sit-in of Egyptian citizens in support of the Muslim Brotherhood, after protestors refused to leave the building until their demand was met to release ousted President Mohamed Morsi.
“The Egyptian consul and his assistants failed to persuade the protestors to leave the consulate building” a source in Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Youm7.
Approximately 30 protesters chanted slogans against the draft constitution and demanded the release of deposed President Morsi, threatening to hold an open sit-in until their demands were met, a MENA correspondent in Paris reported.
Protestors entered as individuals claiming they wanted to finish some paper work, then congregated and obstructed the consulate’s work and refused to leave the building, reported Youm7.
