A US congressional delegation met on Sunday with Egyptian army chief Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to discuss US-Egypt ties and recent developments in the region, a military source has said.
The six-member team, led by Congressman Dana Tyrone, is also due to hold talks with interim President Adly Mansour as part of a two-day visit to Cairo, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.
The visit was previously scheduled and is not linked to last week's constitutional referendum, the source added.
Egyptians overwhelmingly approved the new charter, which replaces the Islamist-drafted 2012 document, in a vote the government has hailed as a public seal of approval for Morsi's overthrow.
A separate group of seven congresspeople arrived in Cairo on Sunday for a visit, Al-Ahram reported.
Parliamentary and presidential elections are due to take place soon but their order is yet to be decided.
The US has urged Egypt to fully implement the rights and freedoms guaranteed in the new constitution, with Secretary of State John Kerry cautioning that "It's not one vote that determines a democracy."
