Court releases young detained protesters, while regime continues crackdown

15 members belonging to the April 6 Youth Movement were released on a bail of 5,000 EGP ($720) each after the Court of Appeals objected their detention, following their arrest in a protest without the “permission” from authorities.15 members belonging to the April 6 Youth Movement were released on a bail of 5,000 EGP ($720) each after the Court of Appeals objected their detention, following their arrest in a protest without the “permission” from authorities.

The members were detained among the series of police arrests that occurred on the commemoration of the revolution on January 25, most of them facing charges of inciting violence, damaging public institutions or assaulting security forces.

Meanwhile, April 6 said that a 15-year old boy and his younger brother were taken from their house by security forces a few days ago. In a Facebook post, they said that all the boy did was to believe in a cause, the cause demanding justice for the martyrs.

“The regime thinks that by carrying out such acts, his opponents will be terrified but actually, the regime is fighting the future and creating a whole new generation of enemies, which only speeds up its downfall,” the statement read on Thursday.

Rights groups have been condemning the arrests of young peaceful protesters and urging authorities to release them and drop charges.
